Race Day: 28-31K

The red line on the map marks the course from the twenty eight through the thirty one kilometer mark. Green circles (Friends and Family) identify the location of subway stations along the route. Place the mouse pointer over the circle to display the name of the station. Click on the name to view information on trains that are appropriate for those interested in following the progress of their runners across the course. Blue squares (Video Segments) mark the location at which the video segments listed in the viewer on this page were produced. Purple squares (Points of Interest) identify locations, buildings and monuments of historical or practical interest.

Road Surface Conditions

As is the case with several of the other runner support areas, the combination of squashed-out gel packs and the remnants of various fruits all mixed with spilled water produces a very slick running surface here. Mid-pace runners will also begin to find more walkers around refreshment areas. Fortunately, this is also a very wide area, with spectators kept well back from the course.

Family/Friends Locations

The stretch of road extending from the refreshment station near Chaillot and the Trocodéro Gardens down to where the Chicago cheering group locates itself each year offers a wide variety of "Family/Friends" activities. Beginning with the Gardens themselves, with a Carrousel, nearby fruit stands and Chaillot with its picture perfect view of the Eiffel Tower, through upper middle class neighborhoods facing the Seine river down to the cafe's and coffee shops near Bir Hikem bridge, this is a good area to productively kill time as you wait for your runner.
