Bois de BoulogneThis area is very popular among many diverse sports and social groups. If you are planning on doing a training run here, we strongly recommend that you confine the run to daylight hours. At other times, rely on the advise of your hotel concierge. We feel this is an exceptionally beautiful running area with a great variety of wooded and open paths. From April to September, there are small outdoor cafe's and places where you can buy fruit and an assortment of juices. There are maps available that indicate the major trails. You can get lost, but it is not hard to find you way out. There are plenty of other runners around to point you in the right direction. (rs) |
Wine Station? It is not an official "refreshment station" of the marathon organizers. But somehow, a group of aggressive vintners always seem to make their way onto the course. Recently, they've hidden themselves away somewhere around the 38KM point. Sometimes they only offer a cup. Do you have the guts to consume a dose of wine 4K before the end of a marathon? Once, I was handed a large, uncorked, bottle and, other than the mechanics of running without spilling any of its contents, was a much better choice. I did try the cup full one year... You can not imagine how quickly that dose of alcohol went through my system. I have never run a more difficult final 4K in my life. (rs) |
