Race Day: Vincennes

The red line on the map marks the course from roughly the ten to the fifteen kilometer marks. Green circles (Friends and Family) identify the location of subway stations along the route. Place the mouse pointer over the circle to display the name of the station. Click on the name to view information on trains that are appropriate for those interested in following the progress of their runners across the course. Blue squares (Video Segments) mark the location at which the video segments listed in the viewer on this page were produced. Purple squares (Points of Interest) identify locations, buildings and monuments of historical or practical interest.

Road Surface

The road surface through most of this area is asphalt. In some sections the course narrows to the equivalent of two and a half lanes, but the stream of runners has begun to spread out. Most participants will find they have plenty of "breathing room" and space for passing There are stretches where bike and jogging paths parallel the course, giving those who want to move forward some extra room.

City of Vincennes

The area surrounding this park is the city of Vincennes. Once considered by royalty as a distant wooded refuge from the noise and confusion of medieval Paris, it is now a large suburban community with a wealth of recreational opportunities. Visitors should consider allowing time for biking and running through the Bois de Vincennes.
